Tuesdays At Tar Beach
Summers were magical at Mirvin Hall. The rooftop, covered with a tar paper and sealant, was our "beach at home." On warm sunny days we'd go up there and sun ourselves to a golden tan, listen to our transistor radios and just "schmooze."

But there was much more! Every Tuesday night we'd go up there as the sun was setting. All the neighbors had a role to play - adults and kids alike - and we would gaze a couple of miles away to Coney Island to see the sky light up with brilliant fireworks.

Follow along with us to see how our apartment "village" worked together to create a full show for ourselves right there up on Tar Beach!
